The grand old man of Bergen op Zoom
around 1350, the Late Middle Ages
The tall man was over 70 years old. A respectable age for the Middle Ages. He was buried in front of the altar of the chapel in the former St Maartens Hospital, in Bergen Op Zoom. This location would suggest he was a person of some importance.
