In 1990 the Krabbeplas, a lake near Vlaardingen, was dug. Children at play discovered here skeletal remains. The skeleton turned out to belong to a man who, much to everyone’s surprise, lived at this site 3300 years ago, during the Bronze Age. This man was therefore named the Krabbeplasman, and he had lived to be around 43 years old. Finding skeleletal material from this period and this local is fairly unique. Research later found presence of DNA in this mans molars as well.
